Garikapati Narasimha Rao is a literary performer and religious orator from Andhra Pradesh, commonly called Telugu Avadhani in Telugu dialect. Avadhanis are widely respected in the society for their extreme abilities to memorize beyond normal human capabilities. Garikapati Narasimha Rao has memorized a huge collection of poems, and owns the ability to recite in public. He conducted Avadhanam with 1116 Pruchchakas or Pricchakas for 21 days in Kakinada in 1996, and remained a great Avadhani artist since 1990s. He also presents religious shows on Telugu channels. He has also authored a few works.
Garikapati Narasimha Rao was born in Bodapadu Agraharam, Tadepalligudem mandal, West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. Currently he resides in Sainikpuri, Secunderabad, Telangana. He was born in 1958 to Venkata Surya Narayana, and Venkata Ramanamma. His wife’s name is Sarada, and the couple had two children. Narasimha Rao started Telugu Avadhani in 1992. He rose to fame instantly, and in the second half of 1990s, he became a leading figure in the recital of poetry among Telugu literals.
